The sea was always a beautiful place. So quiet and calm; begging to be explored. The colors were indescribable; spectral of blues and greens. Everything flowed so freely and generously. The specs that floated around; it was like gazing at the stars in the sky; the suns light that touched the surface was like heaven opening and pouring out its omnipotence to illuminate the beauty below. Each creature moved with such poise and elegance; it was such a magical place.

Gently. the waves rocked her body back and forth, like a lullaby, her hair flowed fluently, as if it was hypnotizing its prey. Her skin glistened like diamonds and her tail; an exquisite kaleidoscope of color that almost allured light What a magnificent entity she was.

In the human world, mermaids were seen as beautiful, magical, free creatures. They are a fantasy and the movies portray them in such a stunning way. The truth about mermaids; as beautiful and magnificent as they are; they are prisoners. They are not born mermaids; they were trapped; imprisoned; transformed. Mermaids never existed until Makara took over Ullumia and transformed the kingdom, forcing the people to be servants. There was not freedom that came with being trapped in your own body. The agony of knowing, you are not who you are supposed to be. With every move the tail made; a sharp stinging pain struck, like needles being forced into your muscles. Your skin, that glistened so beautifully, felt like burns that never heal. As beautiful and breathtaking as mermaids looked; they are being tortured; their human form fighting to get out; a menace no one should ever have to endure.

As she opened her eyes, Serene found she could focus this time. She was not dreaming. She was back in her kingdom, her home; Ullumia, the place she swore she would never return to; where she lost her fight to Makara, and the place she abandoned to save her own life. She sat up, feeling the pain emanate through her body, she attempted to remember her home and how this all came to be.
